As most of our customers know by now, the Animas River was contaminated on Wednesday 08/05/2015. “The Gold King Mine mishap started at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday 08/05/2015 when a crew working for the EPA accidentally triggered the drainage while investigating contamination at the mine, causing millions of gallons of sludge to surge into Cement Creek and into the Animas River, where the plume traveled downstream, making its way to Durango on Thursday evening 08/06/2015.“

Animas Water Company personnel are working closely with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and are testing all 4 of our wells for potential contamination on a daily basis.

3 of 4 the wells that provide water for  Animas Water Company customer are located near the Animas Valley Elementary School.

We will be updating our website as needed so please keep checking back, it may be updated daily or every few days, so no news is good news and PLEASE do NOT call the Emergency Pager about this situation.–not-1-million–gallons-of-contaminated-water-rushed-from-mine–EPA-says
