Assurance regarding AWC Water Quality

Animas Water Company is paying close attention to the situation unfolding in Flint, Michigan, and our thoughts are with all those who are struggling with access to safe and reliable water in their homes. The Gold King Event has heightened the awareness of our customers about the safety of the water they are drinking. Animas Water Company is confident in the quality of our water and is working with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to monitor the levels of all metals and pathogens. The problems the utility company in Flint is having are the result of switching their source and the corrosion of service lines within their distribution system. The lead in the drinking water is not from the source, it is from the service lines and plumbing inside the home. In our community we do not have lead service lines, and we regularly test for lead and copper at the tap in several homes in our system as required by CDPHE.
